Writing Workshop

Writing Workshop with Hanoch Yerushalmi

Writing a paper on psychodynamic therapeutic or supervisory issues based on the writer’s perceptions and experiences might seem challenging for clinicians, despite their proven capacities for treating, supervising, and teaching. The challenges might include doubts about the relevance or the novelty of the clinician’s understandings and theoretical explanations, concerns about the clinician’s privacy and the anonymity of the patients or the supervisees, and insecurity about the use of psychoanalytic conceptualisation. However, writing a clinical text can be highly rewarding for clinicians who have formed solid views on developmental, pathological, and curative issues and wish to find a new outlet for their ideas and professional challenge.

Prof Hanoch Yerushalmi offers a writing workshop for BAPPS members interested in expressing themselves as authors of psychodynamic papers in various forms: original theoretical papers, book reviews, personal clinical perspectives, etc. In this workshop, the participants will be invited to share their ideas, listen to supportive feedback from other participants, and learn about the different options for publishing clinical psychodynamic papers. The participants will also learn how to actualise their writing project by constructing a clinical paper according to the norms accepted by the psychoanalytic community. Based on the participants’ needs, Hanoch will offer to extend the workshop and accompany them further in their writing projects

Prof. Hanoch Yerushalmi, Department of Community Mental Health, University of Haifa, Israel, is a Submissions Editor in Psychodynamic Practice, UK, and a Consulting Editor in Psychoanalytic Social Work, USA.
