“Assessment of clinical work is always a step into the unknown. There is so much to discover, so much to find out and so many possibilities.”

What happens when we assess clinical work?

Supervising Clinical Assessments brings together ideas from papers published in Supervision Review with current clinical vignettes and experiences from supervisors.

An opportunity to think together about the complexities, uncertainties and possibilities involved in assessing clinical work — and to explore how our thinking as supervisors develops in response to the material we encounter.

Suitable for supervisors and those with an interest in clinical assessment and psychodynamic supervision.

Writer’s Workshop in collaboration with Psychodynamic Practice

Writer’s Workshop in collaboration with Psychodynamic Practice: ONLINE Saturday 11th April 2026, 2.00-4.00 pm

We are collaborating with two editors from Psychodynamic Practice to present this free event aimed at members who wish to write for publication.  Join Paul Terry (Consultant Editor) and Dominic McLoughlin (Open Space Editor) for a participatory online workshop to help you think through your writing ideas and learn about how they might fit in to the different sections of Psychodynamic Practice.

The journal has a 30-year history as a home for psychodynamic thinking and research, featuring peer reviewed main papers, book reviews and book review essays, and the 'Open Space' feature which welcomes more reflective, personal writing on a range of topics, often applying psychodynamic ideas to arts and culture more broadly.

If you are working on something already, or just curious about how you might begin, please come along to share experiences and find out about the opportunities in this important and enjoyable area of professional practice. Suggestions for reading will be provided on the day.

The workshop is open to all and will be conducted via Zoom.  Please book in advance as places are limited. Contact admin@supervision.org.uk

Nafsiyat Refugee Project: A psychoanalytic intercultural supervision model | Gita Patel

This workshop will outline the intercultural supervision model used in the Nafsiyat Refugee Project. The project was responding to the psychological needs of recently arrived refugee communities in London. To carry out this work they developed a supervision model that could be used and developed to enable refugee organisations to deliver services within their own communities. Clinical examples of supervision will be explored to allow us to think about the complexities of the work.
