Helen Harvey Humphreys Commemoration Lecture 2024

Generosity and Solidarity in Supervision - Professor Hanoch Yerushalmi

Following the sudden passing of former BAPPS Chair, Helen Harvey Humphreys, the Board warmly invites all members and colleagues to a commemoration in her honour.

For many years, Helen, a dedicated BAPPS member, served as Chair, and later as a board member who made significant contributions to various committees, particularly conference planning, workshops and masterclasses. Helen's clear vision played a crucial role in steering BAPPS through challenges and ensuring its continuity. Her forceful leadership guided the organisation toward a sustainable future.

The event, attended by Helen's family, provides a special opportunity for members to acknowledge her contributions, pay their respects, share personal tributes both in person and online, and celebrate Helen's lasting impact on the organisation.

Professor Hanoch Yerushalmi will give a talk on the centrality of generosity and solidarity in creating an open and genuine dialogue in supervision in commemoration of Helen, who symbolised these qualities for him.

Prof. Hanoch Yerushalmi, Department of Community Mental Health, University of Haifa, Israel, is a Submissions Editor in Psychodynamic Practice, UK, and a Consulting Editor in Psychoanalytic Social Work, USA. Prof. Yerushalmi served as the Director of the Student Counseling Center at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel, and a consultant to psychotherapy centers in Israel, the USA, and Central America. He published numerous articles on supervision, therapists’ development, relational psychoanalytic therapy, crisis and growth, and psychiatric rehabilitation.

This is an in-person (The Guild of Psychotherapists, SE1) & online event. Anyone who would like to attend online for some, or all of the event, should register with admin@supervision.org.uk by Thursday 25th January 2024

The talk will be recorded and available to view online via the BAPPS website.
